For the occasion of the 500 anniversary of the basis of Saint Peter’s Basilica, Stipula and Stelle dell’Orsa have created a collector’s fountain pen impressed by the twisting bronze columns of the Baldacchino (canopy) that Bernini created as the focus of the Basilica. Thus, the design of the fountain pen echoes the column’s spiral motif and the olive branch ornamentation – symbols of peace and the rebirth of life. The fabric of the cover has also been adopted by the fountain pen in order that the body of it’s crafted in bronze.
After the engraving has been completed, the bottom of the decoration is secure with wax in order that the serious and brilliant color of the bronze continues to be whilst the remainder of the thing is patinated and glazed in a distinct bath, which a standard process performed on different sculptural artistic endeavors.
Rose gold completes the harmony of the art work within the composition of the clip, the 18k gold nib, and the slender band engraved with the words of Christ “TV ES PETRVS” (“Thou art Peter” … “and upon this rock I will be able to build my church” Matthew, 16,18).
